There is also a restaurant which serves delicious food and good beer, and has a lovely sun room where you can watch the birds whilst the sun sets. There is plenty of wildlife around the site, including lots of birds and bats. All the facilities are well kept and clean, and there are lovely walks from the site, particularly to Pew Tor which has fantastic views from the top.

  This is a relatively small campsite, tucked away 3 miles from Tavistock, on high moorland underneath Pew Tor. It is surrounded by farm land, and at the time of our... read more visit had a huge range of lambs and calves in the surrounding fields, which was simply amazing.
We had pitch 21, a large triangular corner pitch, right against hedges, it was mainly hard standing but made up of stone clippings, so when we put up our awning the pegs went in easily.
When we arrived we had a very warm welcome, and were even shown to our pitch, despite it being very close to reception. Speaking of reception, there is a small shop with essentials, but also a good selection of maps and guide books.
The toilet block is amongst the cleanest we have ever seen, helped perhaps by some polite notices asking you to help other campers by using the supplied mops, squeegees, and loo brushes, but also by almost constant attention from the staff, so don’t be surprised if you end up discussing the Dartmoor weather with a toilet cleaner at 7.00am.
Recycling is good with a range of bins provided, and rain water harvesting is also employed on the site.
One of the major highlights was the on-site restaurant, you can eat in, but they also do take away which you order, get a time, and then leg it off to your van with a large grin on your face to devour your lamb shank or moor hotpot, the only effort involved being taking the empty container to the recycling point the end of your meal - bliss.
The area around the site is simply stunning. We had one walk into Tavistock, around 3 miles each way, the site provides a map, but there is one half decent hill on the way back. Tavistock is great to look around with its famous pannier market, and we extended our walk by walking as far as we could along the length of the Tavistock canal, a great wood land walk with some interesting canal engineering.
Our second walk was a 15 miler to Peter Tavy, then up onto the moor and ‘bagged’ half a dozen tors, a couple of stone circles and a row of standing stones before descending over the back of Merrivale Quary to grab a bite to eat in the Devon Arms on our way back to the site.
Overall, an immaculately kept, friendly, very clean site, with excellent facilities, nestled in some of the best countryside the UK has to offer.

As we were tired from travelling, we ate in the Manor House on the night of our arrival; the food was plentiful and really enjoyable resulting in constant food envy as different plates were being served to surrounding tables.

The pod itself was very clean and well maintained, it had everything we required and more.

One element of the whole trip we were dubious of before arrival was the cleanliness of the facilities, we needn’t have been. They were very clean and tidy and was never any queue for a shower which in itself was better than most hotels we have stayed in.

The surrounding area is obviously stunning and the short walk in to Tavistock was pleasant.

The campsite was lovely and quiet. Our pitch was a good size with a nice view. The facilities kept lovely and clean. Nice hot showers, hairdryer. Good washing up and washing facilities. We didn’t use the dog shower as our dog doesn’t like being washed!
Very friendly staff. Small shop so not all essentials catered for but prices were ok. The warm croissants and pain au chocolat, ordered the day before, were scrumptious.

We stayed first time round in a Pod as we were campers at heart but now converted to the warm, dry, comfy mobile static Home from Home.
The site is good for walking and touring or catch the bus to Plymouth for shopping.

The pod could accomodate comfortably 4 people and had kitchen sink,microwave,kettle, toilet with sink, 1 double bed and one double... read more sofa bed,TV and heating.
Loads of space for luggage under the bed or under the sink cupboard.
Very clean and private as the pod was surrounded by privacy fencing and driveway with a little private garden and bbq patio.

Enjoied all city commodities while camping.

I loved that the campsite was close to a lot of breath taking landscapes and hiking opportunities.We would problembly need another week or two to be able to visit all that is to see around the campsite.

The staff was very friendly imformative and accomodating.

Children play area, restaurant and even WIFI available on request.
The site is really nice designed with flowers bushes and trees and pods and lodges with their own private garden laid with lawn and patio area as while you are there it feels like you are in a little village.

Only advise would be to inform bookers that the bbq can be used foar coal only and cannot be used as fire pit.

Will definetly visit again and recommend the site.

  What a surprise! Right on the edge of Dartmoor and a hidden gem. The site is large but doesn't look it. The glamping pods are discrete and secluded and the... read more static vans are likewise not over emphasised. Office is open late and they even have a restaurant.

We stayed on a grass pitch with optional hookup. Facilities were very well maintained and the Site Team are very welcoming and friendly.

Access is via narrow, but not scarey, tarmac roads but don't follow Google from the A30 south; instead read the directions on their website. Google Maps doesn't seem to care about the width of your vehicle. Our Ducatto SatNav has a Goods Vehicle setting which stops you going on very small routes unless you are stuck but does have the disadvantage of always thinking we are speeding.

One final comment. There is a reasonable Vodafone 4G signal !!!!!!!!! WiFi is also available but at a charge but fair enough. They have multiple transmitters around the site to maintain.

Some of the hills are very steep on a bike. But then it is Dartmoor!

I have a Tesla and the onsite hookup proved invaluable in keeping the car and fridge running. The hookup is 20A, the Tesla is 16A so there's plenty of headroom for other appliances.

The site is modern and clean, everything is easy to use, showers are warm and powerful, hand and hair dryer is provided. Men have three toilet cubicles and three showers (one with a toilet) along with four urinals and three sinks.

The kitchen area has hot water and several sinks, again modern, clean and easy to use. Tavistock is close by and there are plenty of shops Lidl, Morrisons and Tesco are practically next to each other on Plymouth Road and a Co-Op with parking is on Parkwood Road in the town.

My first day was very heavy rain and there was no pooling of water anywhere on the site (as an ex-farm boy, that was good to see) the only issue I had were the tractors running in the fields until around 02:30 - quite noisy and looked a bit like Close Encounters of the Third Kind! The second night I was so tired I slept through it. I spent most of my week walking Tors, an easy one is right next to the campsite, Pew Tor, a nice brisk half hour walk to the top from the site. Lots of beautiful places to see around Tavistock and Dartmoor.

If you bring an electric vehicle, make sure to bring a 16A "commando" connector (or a "commando" to 13A socket converter) the price of the electrical hookup is good value (unlike another chap who whined about only having a few lamps) there are a few charging points in the strangest of places, e.g. Postbridge - so don't fear the range, you'll be golden visiting this site and connecting up - for Tesla users on the way to Tavistock, go to the Lifton Supercharger on the way, it's very fast and convenient and not far out of your way.

The campsite showers were hot and powerful. The whole site was well kept and very clearly loved and well managed by the staff.

We walked to Tavistock across the moor and had 2 evening walks to Pew Tor. The location was great - in the middle of the moors and lots of great walks from the site. We had a very active 4 days.

Great market in Tavistock with lots of independent stalls. We bought homemade chocolate 2 days running. People were so friendly.
Super cafe called The Kitchen in Russell Street- homemade quiches, salads and cakes that were amazing. Highly recommend a visit here.

We ate at the restaurant on the campsite for one evening meal- the prices felt expensive at £15 for a veggie chilli and it was ok. The staff were helpful and friendly and, although pricey, it was a good addition to the campsite if you don’t want to cook/wash up.
